Durango Discovery Kids is located on the second floor of the Durango Arts Center in historic downtown Durango. The 1,100 square foot exhibit gallery i
s packed with interesting things for kids to see and do. Over 12,000 children and adults visited our museum last year. Steady annual growth over the last ten years means we are ready to expand to larger facilities and serve a broader age range of youths. In 2001, we set our sights on a move to the historic Durango Power House at 14th Street and Camino del Rio by the Animas River. Construction began in 2004 and we're looking forward to our future home.
The Children's Museum of Durango is now Durango Discovery Kids! First there was the Children's Museum of Durango, then there was its expansion project, the Durango Discovery Museum, then the Children's Museum became Durango Discovery Kids, and now: the Durango Discovery Museum and Durango Discovery Kids are officially re-merged. Watch for some other exciting developments soon, but expect the same quality programs in the meantime.
